Chief Executive Officer,
Southern Hospitality Restaurant Group
A veteran of the hospitality
and restaurant industry, Frank Taylor brings more
than 20 years of experience to the entertainment
and food service sector. As President and CEO of
the Southern Hospitality Restaurant Group, Taylor
oversees the following entities: he is President
and CEO of Seldom Blues, Detroit’s only upscale
Jazz Restaurant and Supper Club; Detroit’s Breakfast
House & Grill @ Merchants Row, downtown Detroit’s
newest address for breakfast; and owner of the soon-to-open
Grand City Grille.
The company also handles all of the foodservice
operations and event catering for One Ford Place,
the corporate office center for the Henry Ford Health
System. Southern Hospitality Restaurant Group also
operates Sweet Georgia Brown restaurant in Detroit’s
Greektown.
Prior to forming the Southern Hospitality Restaurant
Group, Frank served at Marriott’s Parkway Grille
in Pontiac, Michigan, as head of development and
director of food and beverage. Before opening the
Parkway Grille, Taylor was the director of food
and beverage at the Troy Marriott, the Doubletree
Hotel in Pittsburgh and at the Sheraton Imperial
Hotel in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Notably, Frank also assisted with the conception
of several well-recognized, fine-dining establishments,
including the Pittsburgh Fish Market and the Seldom
Blues Cafe in Cary, North Carolina. Having won numerous
awards throughout his career, Frank recently received
his sixth consecutive Award of Excellence from Wine
Spectator magazine.
Taylor devotes countless hours to the Detroit community
and serves as a board member with the Detroit Medical
Center, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Michigan
Restaurant Association and Mayor’s Time, a non-profit
organization dedicated to improving the quality
of after-school services for youth in Detroit. Also,
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm appointed Taylor
to the Michigan Tourism and Travel Commission to
represent small businesses in the private sector.
Taylor community involvement also directly impacts
metro Detroit residents. Taylor recently partnered
with his vendors to purchase and replace pots, pans
and cooking utensils stolen from the St. Leo Soup
Kitchen in Detroit. Last year, Taylor honored metro
Detroit’s most deserving mothers with a free Mother’s
Day Brunch at Seldom Blues. Every year, Taylor also
personally delivers Thanksgiving dinners to some
of Detroit’s neediest families.
